Walter MacLachlan Dingwall
Walter MacLachlan Dingwall passed away in Sarasota, Fla., on Dec. 2, 2013, after a long illness.
The eldest son of Alice Turner Dingwall Hughes and Archibald Dingwall, he was born on April 29, 1932, and raised in Rumson, N.J.
After graduating from Dartmouth College in 1954, he served as a 1st lieutenant in the Army during the Korean War. Upon leaving the service, he moved to South Florida, earning his JD from the University of Miami School of Law in 1959. He then practiced law in Ft. Lauderdale for nearly 40 years until he retired to Boone, in July 2001.
Walter was very active during his years in Ft. Lauderdale as a member of the Masons, the Rotary Club, and the Red Cross, as well as sitting on various boards, including the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Wendy Dingwall of Sarasota; his two daughters, Lori Geer of Plano, Texas, and Leigh Dingwall, of Wallingford, Conn.; his three grandchildren, Morgan Geer, Collin Geer, and Wyatt Geer of Plano; and his stepchildren, Greg Kilgore of Orlando, Fla., Kelly Kilgore and Christine Ciarfella of Land O'Lakes, Fla.
