Virginia Staton

Virginia Ballard Staton, 85, of Ansonville, surrounded by her loving family, passed away Sunday night, March 2, 2014, at her home.

A graveside service will be held at 3 pm, Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery in Ansonville.  The Rev. Robert Burr will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, March 4, 2014, at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.

Mrs. Staton was born Aug. 12, 1928, in Anson County to the late Albert Eugene Ballard and Lilly Allen Ballard.  She was a 1945 graduate of Ansonville High School. She was a faithful member of Ansonville United Methodist Church, where she served as president of the United Methodist Women for many years, choir member and faithful supporter.  She was a retiree of West Knitting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Burgess Maynard Staton and son Burgess "Bim" Staton Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Staton and husband, Wayne Fee of Boone and Norwood; son, Eugene "Gene" Staton and wife, Misty, of Norwood; and daughter in law, Rebecca W. Staton of Davidson; grandchildren, Anna Gates, Ryan Staton and wife, Jessica, Heather Colomb and husband, Chris, Carmen Staton, Tracy Fee and Molly Staton; one great-grandchild, Owen Pardue.
