Virginia Rose Black Sears

Mrs. Virginia Rose Black Sears, 88, of Jefferson, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at her home. Mrs. Sears was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Ashe County to Noah Marlin and Nettie Severt Black.

Mrs. Sears was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ovid Darrell Sears; grandchild, Angela Harris and eight sisters. Mrs. Sears enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, feeding the birds and was an avid flea market lover.

Celebration of life services were held 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Rob Brooks. Burial will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery in Maryland at a later date.

Mrs. Sears is survived by one daughter, Brenda Harris of Jefferson; one son, Timothy Sears and wife, Barbara Sue, of Rising Sun, Md.; one sister, Mamie Eller of Laurel Springs; five grandchildren, Alexander Harris and wife, Angela, Christopher Harris and wife, Donna, Eric Harris and wife, Laurie, Nicholas Sears and wife, Jennifer, and Stacey Hom and husband, Timothy; also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren; several beloved nieces and nephews.
