Sylvia Jeanne Phillips
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Forbis and Dick, 1118 N. Elm Chapel, Greensboro. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Patricia "Sissy" Levy.
Sylvia was born on Aug. 17, 1937, to the late James and Madge Mast. She attended Appalachian State University and then married the love of her life, the late James Edward Phillips. She was retired from The Marriott. She loved her birds and loved planting flowers, which she did vigorously prior to her declining health.
Also preceding her in death was her brother, Taylor Mast, and sister, Kathleen Austin.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Patricia "Sissy" Levy and husband, Rick, Gretchen McCormick and partner, Danny Mills, Jimmie Blevins and husband, Larry; sisters, Nora Haymore and husband, E. L., Sarah Norris and husband, Merrill, Polly Brown and husband, Gene; grandchildren, Joshua Levy, Brooke Levy, Ashley McCormick, Zachary McCormick, Lorena Garcia; great-grandchild, Hunter Levy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Teresa Anderson, FNP at Northern Family Medicine, who cared for Sylvia many years; her ever abiding love, care and compassion, especially those last weeks provided a comfort that words can't begin to describe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice at 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
