A native of Dallas, Texas, Steve spent most of his life in Florida, where he attended school and worked in property management. While in Miami, he married Carol Poulos and they welcomed three beautiful children into their family. They were active members of Lighthouse Ministries, where Steve participated in many community outreaches, including weekly Friday night Mission visits to the homeless shelter to break bread with and minister to those in need. Wanting a less congestive, more rural lifestyle for his family, they moved to Boone in 1997, where he worked in real-estate and was active in the Touchdown Club. Steve enjoyed golf, participating in his children's sports, and road trips on his motorcycle. But, present in all of his activities was a need to make others laugh and feel good about themselves, and he did this with a keen sense of humor, a tender heart, and an endearing impishness. A bit compulsive and with a childlike nature, he brought a "Chevy Chase Christmas" to his home and the community each year, and made sure the Easter Bunny didn't skip over his neighborhood. He was passionate about the Lord, and would take his family each summer to Camp Farthest Out in Florida for a week, where he and his wife served as youth leaders. This deep faith carried him through his life's end challenges with a dignity that touched others while giving strength and peace to his family. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to so many. He will always be loved, he will always be remembered.
