Shawn Alan Nixon

Announcing the passing of life into abundant spiritual life of Shawn Alan Nixon, 41, March 3, 2014, at Methodist Medical Center.

He served his country in the Armed Forces during his short but intense life span. He was born as a military child in Frankfort, Germany, Feb 5, 1971. He spent some of his time serving in the ministry of our Lord. Shawn was an ordained minister and associate pastor in Elizabethton, Tenn. Shawn had several photos of cars he painted featured in Hot Wheels Magazine. He succumbed after fighting a battle with a lengthy illness. Shawn leaves behind a legacy of family and friends who loved him.

He was son of William Smith Nixon Jr. and Rebecca Ann Young Nixon, Sunbright, Tenn., and the grandson of the late the Rev. Roscoe and Violet Virginia Young of the Burrville Community in Morgan County, Tenn; wonderful stepfather the Rev. Edward John Worthley from the Burrville Community

Surviving Shawn are his children, Tonya Nixon, Debbie Nixon, Ben Nixon of Kansas City, Mo., and John Aaron Nixon; brothers and sisters, Deberah Ann Smith of Hooks, Texas, Christyal Ooten, Jamestown, Tenn., William Nixon, Breman, Ga., Angela Morris, Mooreheaven, Fla., Sheila Delk, Jamestown, Tersia Kassow, Naples, Fla., Lisa Tagen, Ashland, Tenn., Niki Thomas Carthrage, Tenn., Patty Clouse, Clarksville, Tenn., Katherine Snelson, Fairbanks, Alaska, Dawn Thames, St. Petersburg, Fla., Robert Worthley, Sunbright, Brenda Worthley, Rogersville, Tenn., Kimberly Worthley, Cynthia Worthley, Johnny Worthley, Danny Worthley and Edward James Worthley, all of Elizabethton.

Shawn also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, a special aunts, Paula Moser, Doe Run, Ga., Sharon Cox, Elizabethton, Virginia Ooten, Harriman, Tenn.; special uncle, Owen Young Valle Crucis; uncle, Harry Cox, Elizabethton; uncle, Dale Worthley, Elizabethton; special friends, Stacy Young and Home Health Nurse: Julie Hawn; and many, many friends and loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg, Tenn. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Brother Charles Webb officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Sunbright.
