Mr. Roy N. Presnell, 72, of 506 George Wilson Road, Boone, died Monday morning, January 16, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Presnell was born June 19, 1939, in Watauga County, a son of the late David Gold Presnell and Mary Alice Presnell. He was a retired employee of the Watauga County Health Department and served in the United States Navy.

Mr. Presnell is survived by two sons, Roy C. Presnell and wife, Tracy, and Stacy R. Presnell, all of Sugar Grove; two granddaughters, Alana Presnell of Charlotte and Carrington Taylor of Sugar Grove; one grandson, Roman Presnell of Los Angeles, California; and one sister, Ruby Hagaman and husband, Jimmy, of Sugar Grove. He is also survived by two nieces and three nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Goldie Presnell Hicks.

Funeral services for Mr. Roy N. Prensell will be conducted Friday afternoon, January 20, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Military graveside rites and burial will follow in the Presnell Cemetery, provided by American Legion Post 130 of Boone.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m.t o 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at Hampton Funeral Service.
