Robert G. Fowler
Robert G. Fowler, 83, of Blowing Rock, formerly of Durham, died peacefully Thursday, August 9, 2012, after a brief illness at his vacation home in Hampstead, surrounded by his family.
Born, June 12, 1929, in Gastonia to the late Claude B. and Ella Gregory Fowler, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert G. Fowler, Jr. and a brother, Donald F. Fowler.
Robert graduated from Norwood High School, class of 1947, received a BS degree from High Point College Class of 1955, and was a proud member of TKE while at High Point College.
Robert was a veteran with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a 50 year member of Fellowship Masonic Lodge #687 AF&AM, the Durham York Rite Masonic Bodies. He retired after 30 years with Abbott Laboratories as a Professional Hospital Representative.
Robert's greatest passion was his family and the love of his families' heritage; he was a passionate member of the Sons of Confederacy, George Davis Camp #5.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Manning Fowler, of Blowing Rock and Hampstead; daughter, Natalie Fowler Beauchaine; grandsons, Lucas Beauchaine and Jacob Robert Beauchaine, of Durham; sister, Linda Fowler Boles Parke (Bill), of Pinehurst; sister-in-law, Gaye M Fowler, of Spartanburg, SC; and brother, Raymond L Fowler (Audrey), of Walterboro & Spartanburg, SC; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was helFowd at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Durham with burial to follow in the church garden.
