Rachel Millsaps Arnette

Rachel Millsaps Arnette, 83, of Timber Ridge Road, Sugar Grove, passed away Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5, 2013, at Watauga Medical Center.

Mrs. Arnette was a homemaker, and a member of Timbered Ridge Baptist Church.

Mrs. Arnette is survived by her husband, Boyd W. Arnette of the home; three daughters, Margaret Reece and husband, Darryel, of Elk Park, Mildred Denney of Clemmons, and Patricia Horn of Winston Salem; three grandsons, Gregory Reece of Sugar Grove, Brock Denney and Kevin Denney of Clemmons; two granddaughters, Nicole Shomaker and husband, Travis, of Sugar Grove, and Amanda Horn of Winston Salem; two great-granddaughters, Avery Denney of Winston Salem and Brooke Shomaker of Sugar Grove; two brothers, Arvel Millsaps and wife, Pauline, and Allen Millsaps and wife, Gail, of Sugar Grove; three sisters, Julie Parks and Betty Younce of Toledo, Ohio, and Kathryn Stapleton and husband, Claude, of Boone. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Arnette was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe Millsaps and Mamie Dishman Millsaps.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Millsaps Arnette were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body lay in state at the chapel from 1 t 2 p.m. Officiating were the Rev. Derick Wilson and the Rev. Ray Greene. Burial followed in the Greene Cemetery.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at Hampton Funeral Service.
