Orville D. Wallace
Orville D. "Poppy" Wallace, 92, of Trade, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at his residence.
He was born on Feb. 14, 1920, to the late John and Ellen Wilson Wallace. In addition to his parents, Orville was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Bonnie Marie Wallace, who passed away on December 31, 2009; brothers, Bert, Rayburn, Marion and Wade Wallace.
Orville loved to farm and was a pastor for 54 years at White Rock Baptist Church in North Carolina. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church.
He is survived by his special nephew, niece, and caregivers, Kevin Potter and wife, Aundrea, of Trade, Tenn.; five sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
The family received friends 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Derick Wilson officiating.
Graveside service and interment were conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, from the Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers were the Rev. Leonard Fletcher, Pastor Tony Potter, Pastor T.J.Wilson, Pastor Ray Greene, Tim Price, and A.B. Hodges. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Trade Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders, Johnson County Rescue Squad, Rodger Potter and Trowa Potter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amedysis Hospice.
