Opal Robbins Cox

Opal Robbins Cox, 85, formerly of Lenoir, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Wilkes Senior Village.

She was born May 25, 1928, in Caldwell County to John and Arlie Bradshaw Robbins. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitnel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Edward Cox; an infant daughter; three sisters, Dessie Smith, Myrtle Setzer, Christine Carswell; and two brothers, Vilas Robbins, Luther Robbins.

Survivors include two sons, Morris Cox and wife, Emma, of Purlear, Douglas Cox and wife, Ina, of Kernersville; three brothers, Maynard Robbins of Lenoir, Carl Robbins and John Robbins, both of Florida; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Whitnel, with memorial services following at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Donald Ingle and the Rev. Stewart White officiating.
