Nathan Ridge Bivens

Nathan Ridge Bivens, 17, of Hickory Nut Gap Road, Banner Elk, was carried peacefully into the arms of Jesus, Wednesday morning, Jan. 23, 2013, at his home.

Nathan is survived by his parents, Keith Lee Bivens and Rebecca Trivette Bivens of the home; his maternal grandparents, the Rev. Richard L. and Margaret Trivette of Banner Elk; his paternal grandparents, Gary and Barbara Bivens, and Judy and Steve Whisnant of Maiden; and his maternal great-grandmother, Rebecca Pearl Tester (Rebecca's grandmother) of Blowing Rock. He is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of Nathan's life will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Bud Russell, Pastor David Trivette, the Rev. Richard Trivette, and Dr. John Wilson. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service. At other times, friends may call at the home of the maternal grandparents, the Rev. Richard and Margaret Trivette, 6501 Hickory Nut Gap Road, Banner Elk.
