Michael P. Sollecito Sr.

Michael P. Sollecito, Sr., 91, of Boone, passed away Friday morning, March 8, 2013, at Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living in Boone.

Mr. Sollecito was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Manhattan, N.Y., a son of the late Louis Peter Sollecito and Philomena Pochiccio Sollecito. He was the retired owner and operator of Sollecito's Restaurant, for over 25 years, and was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Mr. Sollecito was renowned for his singing to his customers. He also served in the United States Army during World War II.

Mr. Sollecito is survived by five daughters, Mary Chamberlain of Orlando, Fla., Laura Harbison and husband, Bill, of Lutz, Fla., Anne Sollecito Fuller and husband, Calvin, of Raleigh, Donna Solecito and husband, Mark Little, of Boone, and Lorraine Sollecito of Raleigh; three sons, Louis Sollecito of the Dominican Republic, Philip Sollecito and wife, Kandi, of Sarasota, Fla., and Michael Sollecito, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, of Gordonsville, Va.; and one brother, Anthony Sollecito of Long Island, N.Y. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Haughton Sollecito; one granddaughter, Hope Harbison; two brothers, Inno Sollecito and Rocco Sollecito, and one sister, Mary Sollecito.

A Catholic Mass and celebration of Michael P. Sollecito's life will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Dave Brzoska. A reception will follow the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina, 28215.
