Michael Darold Hedrick
Michael "Mike" Darold Hedrick, 58, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mike was born Sept. 5, 1955, to the late Darold "Lee" and Zela Hedrick.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Delores Nelson Hedrick of the home; two sons, Jonathan Hedrick and fiancée, Alisabeth Bristol, of the home, Jack Hackney and girlfriend, Mandy Templeton, of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Laura McNeill and husband, Allen, of Fleetwood; one aunt, Anna Carter of Fort Sanilac, Mich.; one grandson, Spencer Hackney of Winston-Salem; one granddaughter, Delaney McNeill; and one unborn granddaughter, Vail McNeill, both of Fleetwood; and special friend, Olin Cook of Boone.
Mike owned and operated Boone Meat Center for over 20 years. He enjoyed serving his Lord and Savior and sharing his testimony with his customers and strangers. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Mike was one of the Miami Dolphins biggest fans along with being an Atlanta Braves fan.
The family will receive friends at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church in Deep Gap, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013. The funeral service will be held at the church 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, with burial to follow at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Revs. Eric Proffit, Rick Critcher, and Mike Townsend officiating.
Pallbearers are Eddie Perkins, Erin "Ernie" Hodge, Allen McNeil, Hunter Shook, Jacob Watson, Frank Guy, and Bradley Swift. Honorary pallbearers are the men of the Hardee's breakfast club of new Market Center.
