Mary Stassinos Brown

Mary Stassinos Brown, 75, of 1704 Highway 105 Bypass, Boone, died Thursday evening, Nov. 15, 2012, at Watauga Medical Center.

Mrs. Brown was born March 16, 1937, in Fragista, Greece, a daughter of the late Stavros "Sam" Stassinos and Alice Cavalaris Stassinos. She was a retired employee of Stassinos Restaurant in Charlotte, and a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Charlotte.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, Richard "Dick" Brown of the home; one son, James Ray Childress and wife, Nancy, of Stanley; two granddaughters, Alicia Albertson and husband, John, of Matthews, and Caroline Childress of Stanley; one grandson, Zachary Childress of Stanley; one great-granddaughter, Alexus Albertson of Matthews; one great-grandson, Johnathan Albertson of Matthews; and one brother, Angelo Stassinos and wife, Dena, of Charlotte. She is also survived by two nieces and two nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Triantis, and one nephew.

Funeral services for Mary Stassinos Brown will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state at the chapel from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Gordon Noble and the Rev. Brian Brown. Burial will follow in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens.

The family will receive friends 12: 30 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
