Martha K Barthel, 85, of Vero Beach, Florida, died Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Florida Baptist Retirement Center.

She was born April 12, 1927, in Erie, Penn., and had been a resident of Vero Beach, Fla., since 2009 coming from Boone.

Martha was a member of the PEO and the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach.

She was a retired teacher.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roy Barthel of Vero Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Linda Hinkle of High Point; Ruth Barthel of Grass Lake, Mich.; Amy O'Brien of Dansville, N.Y.; two brothers, Charles Kilgore of San Antonio, Texas, Robert Kilgore of South Carolina; and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by a half-sister, Jean Smock.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2012, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Vero Beach, Fla.
