Marian Stroupe Wilson

Mrs. Marian Frances Stroupe Wilson, age 84, of Boone and formerly of Vilas, passed away Friday morning, Jan. 11, 2013, at Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living.

Born March 20, 1928 in Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late Cadmus and Maude McGinnis Stroupe. A graduate of Lees McRae College, Marian was a homemaker. She was a former medical lab technician at Grace Hospital and Watauga County Hospital. She was a member of High County United Church of Christ.

She is survived by two children, Shelly Wilson, and Fred Wilson and wife, Jaime; three granddaughters, Julianna Wilson Bond, Heather Hutchison and Ginger Neff; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton B. Wilson.

A memorial service honoring the life of Marian Frances Stroupe Wilson will be held 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at the High Country United Church of Christ, 8233 US Hwy 421 North, Vilas, NC 28692. Officiating will be the Rev. Melanie Childers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the High Country United Church of Christ, 8233 US Hwy 421 North, Vilas, NC 28692. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
