Mrs. Margaret Swart Harmon,70, of Phillips Branch Road, Vilas, passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 11, 2012, at home.

Born Nov. 9, 1941, in Wilmington, she was a daughter of the late Cornelius and Annie Braak Swart. Margaret was a retired Clinical Social Worker, having worked at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, but her greatest joy was being a mother, wife and homemaker. She was an avid hiker, quilter and a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Harmon; one son, Kirk Nance of Fayetteville; one daughter, Emily Jividen of Raleigh; one granddaughter, Harper Jividen of Raleigh; two brothers, Dirk Swart and Andrew Swart, both of Castle Hayne; and two sisters, Gloria Leonard and Eleanor Davis, both of Rocky Point.

Memorial services for Mrs. Margaret Swart Harmon will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, or to Holy Cross Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 645, Valle Crucis, NC 28691.
