Louise Hood, 91, died Aug. 8, 2013, at the Abernethy Laurels in Newton.
She was a long-time resident of Boone, and member of Deerfield Methodist Church. She had lived at Abernethy Laurels for the last 3 years. She was a graduate of Brevard College and had worked for Sears Roebuck for five years. For most of her life, she was a homemaker with hobbies involving crafts, quilting and gardening, in addition to church work.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Richard Clay Hood.
She is survived by her children, Robert L. Hood and wife, Carol Ann; grandsons, Tristan Hood and Andrew Hood of Ocala Fla; a daughter, Rachel V Hood; granddaughter Dawn Perry and her husband, Peter Perry; great-granddaughter, Savannah Perry; son, Timothy L Hood Sr. and wife, Elaine; grandsons, Timothy L Hood Jr. and Christopher David Hood; great-grandson, Nathaniel David Hood. She is also survived by brother, Paul Beatty and wife, Ann; sisters, Shirley Beatty and Thelma Wren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Rehobeth United Methodist Church with Pastor Evelyn Lemmons officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
