She lived in Berwyn Height, Md., for 62 years with her husband Alfred E. Miller, originally from Brownwood. They were married for 68 years and he preceded her in death by one and a half years.
Lillie was born on April 7, 1918, in Western North Carolina and was the daughter of Willard and Celia Mast Presenell of Boone. She had six sisters and five brothers.

Before WWII, Lillie worked at the Daniel Boone Hotel in Boone. Later, she worked on airplanes at Glen L. Martins in Maryland as "Rosie the Riveter." Then during WWII, she married and moved to the Alameda Naval Air Station in California, where Alfred was in the Navy.
Lillie and Alfred have a "special" son, who they took care of for many years and later visited often until they passed away. Lillie always believed she would see her "special" son one day in heaven. What kept her going for all those years was knowing that in heaven, Jerry would a have new mind and body.
Lillie loved to cook, especially for family and friends. She learned how to become a good cook from her mother in the hills of North Carolina.
She also enjoyed gardening and canning fruits and vegetables. Like her husband, she was always very generous and gave away many fresh vegetables, canned goods, and homemade candy.
