Lillian Hawkins

Lillian Hawkins, 91, of Mountain City, Tenn. passed away on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at the Mountain City Care Center.

She was born on Sept. 15, 1922, to the late Richard "Bruce" Sr. and Minnie Blanche Felts Hawkins. In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Gentry; brothers, Newton Hawkins, Richard Bruce Hawkins Jr., Willard Hawkins, Wilton Hawkins, Calvin Hawkins; and half-brother, Walter Shoemake.

Lillian worked many years at the Mountain City Shoe Plant. She loved to sew, especially quilting, and enjoyed working outside in her vegetable and flower gardens.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.

Lillian is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Deanna Hawkins McGinnis and husband, Ted, and Dr. Carolyn Hawkins Brown and husband, Bill; son and special daughter-in-law, Robert Steven Hawkins and wife, Donna, Widener Hawkins; sisters, Annis Gentry and Bonnie Icenhour; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Bonnie Hawkins; grandchildren, Dr. Sherri Brown, Tammy Hawkins Hardee, Sue Anne Hawkins, Carla McGinnis Gaydos, Evan McGinnis, Shelli McGinnis Johnson; great-grandchildren, Briana Hardee, Olivia Hardee, Zachary Gaydos, Jacob Gaydos, Carson McGinnis, Ethan Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Tom Prater officiated. The family received friends from 5 to 6 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and interment were conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at the Acre Field Cemetery. Pallbearers were Derrell Gentry, Bob Hardee, Jeff Johnson, Paul Blevins, Eric Taylor, Kenny Icenhour, Eric Wallace, Evan McGinnis and Eric Gaydos.

Flowers were welcome or memorial donations in Lillian's memory may be made to the Acre Field Cemetery, 1920 Gentry Creek Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680.

At other times, the family received friends at the son's home, Steve Hawkins, 3591 Sugar Creek Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680.
