Kenneth Ray Cornett

Kenneth Ray Cornett, 57, of Reese Road, Vilas, passed away Wednesday evening, Dec. 12, 2012, at his home.

Born Jan. 24, 1955, in Watauga County, he was a son of Grover and Thelma Harmon Cornett. Kenneth was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. For the past 18 years, he was employed by ASU in the department of preventative maintenance.

Mr. Cornett is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kathy Shoun Cornett; sons, Freddie Cornett and wife, Sammie, of Trade, Tenn., and Kendall Cornett of Vilas; daughter, Kendra Cornett of Vilas; grandson, J.B. Ray Cornett of Trade, Tenn.,; sister, Karen Cornett of Vilas; mother-in-law, Betty Shoun of Vilas; and brother-in-law, Tommy Shoun of Vilas; sister-in-law, Lisa Danner and husband, Charlie, of Vilas; niece, Misty Stamps of Jacksonville, Fla.; and nephew, Ashley Livingston of Jacksonville, Fla.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Livingston.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Bethel Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Charlie Martin and the Rev. Burl Greer.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Austin & Barnes.
