Kathleen R. Goodman
Mrs. Kathleen R. Goodman, 91, of Boone, died Saturday afternoon, January 21, 2012, at the home of her sister.
Mrs. Goodman was born December 20, 1920, in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Dock Soloman Ragan and Fannie Lookabill Ragan. She was a retired elementary school teacher, and a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Boone.
Mrs. Goodman is survived by two step-sons, Gilbert Goodman Jr. and wife, Connie, of Wilkesboro, and Clyde Goodman of South Carolina; one sister, Nancy R. Price of Zionville; four brothers, Lloyd Ragan, Joe Ragan and Dave Ragan, all of Boone, and John Ragan and his wife, Fern, of Eden; and one sister-in-law, Joyce Ragan of Boone. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Gilbert Brown Goodman; one step-daughter, Mary Goodman; two brothers, Jesse Ragan and Orville Ragan; and four sisters, Margaret Hayes, Grace Ragan, Annie Ragan and an infant sister.
Funeral services for Mrs. Kathleen R. Goodman will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Bethany Lutheran Church. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Officiating will be by Pastor Laura Weant, Pastor John Bollinger, and the Rev. Andy Watson. Burial will follow in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the Ragan homeplace, 1267 Burkett Road, Boone.
