James 'Jim' Poole III

U.S. veteran James Robert "Jim" Poole III, 70, of McCauley Lane, Boone, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 6, 2013, at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Poole was born, April 5, 1942, in Robeson County, a son of the late James Robert Poole II and Kate Lucinda Fisher Poole. He served in the United States Air Force for twelve years, was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Boone. Mr. Poole was a retired U. S. Postal Service city mail carrier, in Boone, for 30 years.
Mr. Poole is survived by his wife, Dr. Marye Hacker, of the home; two daughters, Cathy Poole of Boone, and Laura Poole and husband, Eric Coker, of Durham; two granddaughters, Sarah Greaves of Boone, and Joanna Coker of Durham; one grandson, Gabriel Greaves of Boone; one sister, Cinda McGuinn and husband, Doug, of Boone; and one nephew, David McGuinn of Boone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Poole; and a nephew Jamie McGuinn.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Boone. Officiating will be the Reverend Cynthia Banks.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 170 Councill Street, Boone, North Carolina, 28607.
