James Grady McNeil
James Grady "Jim" McNeil, 73, of Morristown, Tenn., passed away suddenly Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare Systems.
He was a longtime resident of Morristown. He was a loving husband, father, and friends to many and will be truly missed by all that he had touched with his generosity of time and assets. He was an active member of Buffalo Trail Baptist Church and will be missed by his Sunday school class. He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. and Verlee McNeil of Boone, and sister, Betty Miller also of Boone.
He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma McNeil of Morristown; daughter, Donna McNeil of Bridgeport W.Va.; son, Jim (Laura) McNeil of Knoxville, Tenn.; son, Ronnie (Rhonda) McNeil of Morristown; daughter, Kim (Travis) Price of Rogersville, Tenn.; son, Craig (Lisa) Hammer of Knoxville; grandchildren, Logan and Megan McNeil, Ryan Knight, Kayla Hammer and Gracie Price. He also left several nieces, nephews and family that were very close to him from Boone.
Jim was very active at his church, volunteering in the food pantry along with enjoying the company of his Sunday school class. He worked for Roadway Express and retired with a great record of Safe Driving. He was always a hard working person and really enjoyed working in his yard and cleaning his vehicles. He was a giving man and he truly loved the Christmas season and celebrating this time with his family.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Buffalo Trail Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Mowery officiating. The family will meet Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Hamblen Memory Gardens for a 1 p.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the church.
