Jackie Ward

Jackie Ward, 69, of 560 Dayton Trail, Vilas, died Tuesday afternoon, June 19, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Jackie was born July 27, 1942 in the Beech Creek Community, a son of the late William Dayton Ward, Sr. and Elsie Clay Ward. He was owner and operator of Mountaineer Electric Company, Inc. and a member of Brushy Fork Baptist Church.

Jackie was a great brother, husband, father, "Poppy," and friend. His legacy will remain in all the lives he has touched.

Jackie is survived by his wife, Bettina Ward, of the home; two daughters, Robin Ward of Vilas, and Tracy Greene and husband, Charlie, of Sugar Grove; two sons, Greg Ward and wife, Paula, and Kevin Ward and wife, Jamie, all of Vilas; seven granddaughters, Casey Coffey and husband, Sheldon, Halee Hartley, Addie Hartley, Allyson Hartley, Laramie Ward, Sydney Ward, and Elizabeth Ward; four grandsons, Ryan Hartley and wife, Traci, Kennon Hartley, Tyler Ward, and Lawson Greene; one great-granddaughter, Tessa Hartley, one great-grandson, Finley Coffey; one sister, Willrea Trivette and husband, Dexter, of Sugar Grove, and one brother, W.D. Ward, Jr. and wife, Nadine, of Vilas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Lou Johnson, and one brother, James Ward.

Funeral services for Jackie Ward will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, at Brushy Fork Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 10 a.m. Until 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Toby Oliver and the Rev. Max West. Burial will follow in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens.
