Hassie Virginia Thomas, 85, of 435 B.H. Duncan Road Zionville, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012, at her residence.

She was born October 12, 1926, in Ashe County to the late Ralph May and Hassie Lewis May. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph G. May Jr. and Thomas Edward May. She was a member of The Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Grant E. Thomas of the home; brother, Ned Gray May of Zionville; and sister, Vivian Louise Winters of Erwin, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A visitation for Ms. Thomas was held 10 a.m. to 11 .m. Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux Lipford Funeral Home.

Following the visitation, a procession travelled to the Zionville Baptist Church Cemetery where graveside services were conducted by Pastor Jeffery Wilson.
