Harold Vann Dellinger

Harold Vann Dellinger, 69, of Elk Park passed away on July 26, 2013, at Spruce Pine Hospital.

A native of Mitchell County, he was born Feb. 3, 1944, a son of the late Hugh and Anna Sparks Dellinger.

He was a graduate of Western Carolina University and worked for the Employment Security Commission for 35 years. A member and Sunday School Teacher of the Elk Park Christian Church, Dellinger was a United States Army Veteran having served as a Sergeant in the United States Army.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Daniel and his step mother, Edna Dellinger.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shelia Hicks Dellinger; sons, Ben and Ira Dellinger.

Funeral services for Dellinger were conducted 2 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013, in the Elk Park Christian Church with Ryan Shirck officiating. Interment followed in the Elk Park Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Pat Ray Post of the VFW. The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the services on Monday.
