Gus Anthony Tarver Jr.

Gus Anthony Tarver Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 11, 2012, in Boone, NC.

He was the son of Sadie Clemence and Gus Anthony Tarver Sr., and husband of the late Mary Horton Tarver. He attended Lanier High School and Auburn University. He served his country in the Navy aboard the submarine tender The Fulton. He retired from BellSouth after 38 years and made his home on Merritt Island, FL. He was a deacon of both Vineville Baptist Church in Georgia and First Baptist Church of Merritt Island. He also attended Perkinsville Baptist Church while summering in Boone, NC. His love of the Lord was evident as he served with Mercy Ships; Wego Ministries; Samaritan's Purse and Good Shepherd Ministries. The last trip he was to take was to the Holy Land, where he walked where Jesus walked.

He leaves behind his wife, Charlene Squires Tarver; his daughter, Susan Tarver Dye of Summerville, SC; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by Snow's Memorial Chapel on Cherry Street, Macon, Georgia.
