Grady 'Buddy' Carroll

Grady "Buddy" Carroll, 68, of Catawba, passed away Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.

Born Sept. 18, 1945, in Watauga County, he was the son of Virgil Grady Carroll and Onnie Williams Carroll.

Buddy was preceded in death by his infant sister, Edith Pauline Carroll; sisters, Violet Hayes, Vera Moretz; brother Vaughn Carroll; and his first wife, Margaret Carroll.

Surviving are his loving wife, Vickie Carroll of the home; daughter, Jody Wood and husband, Don, of Euless, Texas; sons, Mark Carroll of Euless, Brian Smith and wife, Kayla of Boone; sisters, Velma Anderson of Elkton, Md., Dorothy Williams and husband, Tom, of Bel Air, Md., Eva Keller and husband, Harold, of Boone, Marie Moretz and husband, Ernest, of Taylorsville; brothers, Roy (Peck) Carroll of Claremont, Stanley Carroll and wife, Beverly, of Boone; three grandchildren, Dustin, Cody and Katlin, all of Euless; two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Kadeen, both of Euless; and beloved puppies, Russell and Bandit, and kitty, Miss Kitty, all of the home.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover with the Rev. Gary Lawrence officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.

The family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Rutherwood Baptist Church, 142 Don Hayes Rd., Boone.
