Mrs Elsie Elrod, formerly of Deep Gap and Boone, passed in to Heaven on Aug. 29, 2013, in Bradenton, Fla. She was born March 26, 1932.
She is survived by daughters, Gloria Elrod of Boone, Connie Gulick of Parrish, Fla.; son, Michael Elrod of Bradenton; along with two brothers, Bobby Nichols and Junior Nichols and two sisters, Arlene Morrison and Frances Agnew. Elsie had eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Rick Lineberger of Bradenton First Baptist Church.
Elsie was a faithful member of Palma Sola Bay Baptist Church in Bradenton, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, helping in the office, and preparing the Wednesday night meals for many years.
She was a loving wife who worked hand-in-hand with her husband, the late Mack Elrod in their insurance business. She loved her family and spent countless hours helping with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and spending time with other family members.
Her outlook on life was inspirational to those she came in contact with over the last few years of her life at Westminster Towers in Bradenton. Her strong will, independence, and unwillingness to give up, while maintaining her sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be missed.
