Danny Hartley
Danny Hartley, 62, of 191 Sunny Hill Lane, Deep Gap, died Wednesday afternoon, February 1, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Hartley was born August 31, 1949, in Avery County, a son of the late Burl and Claty Baird Hartley. He was a retired residential carpenter and a member of Laurel Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Hartley served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Hartley is survived by his wife, Janice Harmon Hartley of the home; one daughter, Candace Hartley of Clermont, Florida; one son, Chad Hartley and wife, Diane, of Raleigh; two sisters, Jean Moretz and husband, Allie, of Millers Creek, and Mary Adams and husband, Perry, of Vilas; and his special friends, Will, Karen, Trey, and Rory McNeil. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Harold Hartley; one sister, Doris Parlier; one brother-in-law, James Parlier; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Hartley.
Funeral services for Danny Hartley will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Laurel Springs Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Brent Bolick. Burial will follow in Laurel Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at Hampton Funeral Service.
