Clyde Elliott Cornette
Clyde Elliott Cornette, 95, a resident of Westchester Manor in High Point and under the care of United Hospice passed away on Sept. 2, 2013.
She was born Aug. 11, 1918, in West Jefferson to the late Lizzie Swift Elliott and Henry Elliott. She retired from Leviton Mfg. Co. in West Jefferson after many years of service. In past years she loved to garden, sew, cook, and go fishing with her family.
In addition to her parents, preceding her in death is her husband, Earnest (nickname-Screwdriver) Cornette; one son, Earl Cornette; eight brothers and six sisters. She is survived by one daughter, Josephine Brooks of Warrensville; two sons, Arvill Cornette and wife, Judy, of Sparta, Harold Cornette and wife, Carrie, of High Point, and one daughter in law, Carol Cornette of High Point. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Clyde's life will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel in Jefferson, with Pastor Tim Dockery officiating. Interment will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens, Garden of the Good Shepherd. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., one hour prior to the service at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
