Cleda Bolick Graham

Cleda Bolick Graham, 84 of Taylorsville, passed away peacefully at her home, on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. She was born in Caldwell County, January 12, 1928 daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Docia Harrison Bolick.

She was a retired schoolteacher having taught twenty-eight years. Upon retirement from education, she was the owner and operator of a local lumber company in Hiddenite. For over fifteen years, she could often be seen on the lumber yard supervising her employees, adjusting the planer or counting lumber.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, in Taylorsville. She was a graduate of Appalachian State Teacher's College, where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in education and a Master's Degree in Library Science. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband L.D. Graham; brothers Clyde Joseph Bolick, Cloyd Shuford Bolick, a sister Colene Alice Bolick; a granddaughter Elizabeth Marie Graham; a son- in- law Walter Monroe Abernethy.

Survivors include a two daughters, Rita Miller and husband, Bill, of Taylorsville; Donna Abernethy of Newton, a son The Honorable Dale Graham and wife, Linda, of Taylorsville; three sisters Christine Harmon, and Cleo Cook both of Boone, and Nadine Willard of Mt. Airy; two brothers Coy Bolick of Charlotte, and Ben Bolick, of White Plains; four grandchildren Cameron Grant, of Statesville, Anna Bowman of Taylorsville, Lawrence and Matthew Graham of Taylorsville, and a great-grandchild Lena Grant; she is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother.

A service to celebrate the life of Cleda Graham, will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Josh Sherfey will officiate. Burial will follow in the Graham Family cemetery in Todd, NC. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Adams Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
