Charles Edward Davis

Charles Edward Davis, 83 of 103 John Johns Road, Elk Park, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center.

Davis is survived by his wife, Janice Marie Storie Davis of the home; five children, son, Chuck Davis and wife, Dena, of Elk Park, daughter, Sharon Sword and husband, Roger, of Banner Elk, son, Stephen Davis and wife, Sandy, of Nebo, son, Michael Davis and wife, Sonya, of Elk Park, daughter, Sam Townsend and husband, Robert, of Zionville; three step-children, Jackie Irene Miller and husband, Brion, of Sanford, Deborah Ann Nobles and husband, Ardle, of Thomasville, and the Rev. Millard S. Cook III, of New York, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Ellen Bennett and husband, Richard, of Delaware; half-sister, Mary Ruth Elder and husband, Bobby, of Taylorsville; half-sister, Betty Jean Baity of Taylorsville, Carlos Davis of Taylorsville, and Buddy Davis and his wife, Bea, of Taylorsville. Davis is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross Davis and Otha Shook Davis; his first wife, Ivalee Storie Davis, one sister Ruth McMullin; three brothers, J.B., Herman, and Nolan Davis; and one step-grandson, Jonathan Harmon.

Funeral services for Davis will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Millard S. Cook, BSG, and the Rev. Jacob Willis officiating. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday evening prior to services. Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Beech Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 130 and Disabled American Veterans Post 90.
