Cecile Guy Rominger

Cecile Guy Rominger, affectionately known as "Granny Cecile", 88, of Old US Hwy 421, Sugar Grove, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at home.

Born Dec. 3, 1924, in Trade, Tenn., she was a daughter of William Granville and Mabel Anderson Guy. Mrs. Rominger was a member and Sunday School Teacher at Willowdale Baptist for many years. She was employed by Shadowline and the Western Watauga Community Center, retiring at the age of 80.

Granny Cecile is survived by her children, Frank Guy of Sugar Grove, Shirley Osborne of Brooksville, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Peggy Rominger of Vilas, Evelyn Greene & husband, Bob, of Boone, Harold Rominger and wife, Teresa, of Midland, Kenneth Rominger and wife, Barbara, of Charlotte, Ricky Rominger of Sugar Grove, Patricia Ward and husband, James, of Mocksville, and Deborah Rominger of Granite Falls; and 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Narvie; her son, Johnny; grandson, Joseph McKinley Rominger; daughter-in-law, Shirley Guy; son-in-law, Johnny Osborne; three brothers, Ted, Fred and infant; three sisters, Mildred, Helen and Ruby; and her parents.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Willowdale Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Eugene Braswell, the Rev. Kenneth Bryant and the Rev. Ray Greene.

Burial will follow in the Harmon Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Austin & Barnes.
