Carl L. Sigmon
Carl L. Sigmon, 84, passed away Aug. 6, 2013, at Frye Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Carl was born Feb. 27, 1929 in Mecklenburg County. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Smyre Campbell, and stepfather, Zeddie Campbell; 2 sisters and a brother.
He was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, co-owner of YE&S Hosiery and an avid fisherman. He was president of the Catawba Valley Hosiery Association in 1976 and was elected and served on the board for several years. He was also member of the Fairbrook Volunteer Fire Dept. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948.
Surviving are his sons, Alan Sigmon and wife, Donna, of Bethlehem, and Gary Sigmon of Boone; granddaughters, Kristy Smith and husband, Haskew, of Newton, Kelly McLaurin and husband, Dave, of Banner Elk, and Brandi Sigmon and husband, Benny Mote, of Iowa; grandsons, Kyle Sigmon and wife, Elise, of Boone, and Keith Sigmon and wife, Ivette, of Mt. View; and 9 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen T. Johnson and the Rev. Jim Evans officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.
