Bobby Wallace Benton
Bob, originally from Charlotte, lived the last 11 years in Banner Elk. He was an only son and had no children. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Pure Oil. He owned a remodeling firm for a number of years, and retired after a few years as maintenance supervisor for the Charlotte Women's Shelter. His love for his pets, music and entertaining friends at home were comparable to none.
Bob is survived by first cousins in Charlotte and by best friends Kitty Ranson of Huntersville, Sandra Granese of Foscoe, Le'roy and Barbara Townsend of the Boone area, Tom Harris of Birmingham, Ala., and Charlotteans Don King, David Brasch and Mike Pendleton.
Private celebrations of Bob's life will be held at Mill Ridge and in Charlotte. People who wish to make memorial contributions in Bob's name may do so to the charity of their choice.
