Arlie Junior Winebarger
Arlie Junior Winebarger, 65, of 2329 Hardin Road, Boone, died Sunday morning, Dec. 16, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Winebarger was born March 17, 1947, in Watauga County, a son of the late Charlie and Docia Winebarger. He was a communication specialist for the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and a member of American Legion Post 130 in Boone. Mr. Winebarger was a member of Hardin Baptist Church.
Mr. Winebarger is survived by his wife, Clara Walton Winebarger of the home; one daughter, Lisa Winebarger Streit of Charlotte; one son, Nicklas Winebarger of Vilas; one daughter-in-law, Kay Cornett of Vilas; two granddaughters, Lena Howley of Charlotte, and Celeste Winebarger of Boone; three grandsons, Trey Streit of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Tristan Rhymer of Deep Gap, and Nicklas Winebarger of Boone; and one brother, Robert Winebarger of Boone. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Melinda W. Rhymer, and two brothers, Howard Winebarger and Mack Winebarger.
Funeral services for Arlie Junior Winebarger will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state at the chapel from 1 to 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Guy Testerman. Military graveside rites and burial, provided by American Legion Post 130 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 90, will follow in Pilot Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
