WHS students awarded for CPR, first aid
by Staff Reports
Watauga High School students Maggie Cook and Austin Wilcox were recently named first-place winners of a regional competition in CPR and first aid through Health Occupations Students of America.
The competition included 200 students and 100 teams from northwestern North Carolina, according to Watauga County Schools.
The regional competition included a timed, 100-question test that each student took individually. The scores of each two-person team were then added to arrive at the team score.
Cook and Wilcox will go to the state HOSA competition in Greensboro in the spring.
