Va. man arrested on meth, gun charges

Boone police arrested a Virginia man Wednesday on meth and gun charges, the police department announced Friday.
Officers responded to the Walgreens parking lot Wednesday evening after receiving a report of suspicious activity, possibly involving drugs. During the investigation, officers located Michael Wayne Lyons, 33, of Bluefield, Va. — a convicted felon who was carrying a concealed gun, the police department reported.
After Lyons was arrested, police discovered that Lyons also had methamphetamine in his possession.
Lyons was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility, police said.
Lyons was issued a $30,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court March 28.
