According to police scanner traffic, a man walked into a local service station at 1032 E. King St. in Boone around 11 a.m. Tuesday and drew a gun, possibly claiming he was a state agent.
Cpt. Jim Wilson said the incident was a misunderstanding. A N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles officer in plain clothes was present at the service station for inspection purposes. The merchant saw the officer's gun and called 911. The weapon was not draw or pointed at a person, Wilson said.
