UPDATE: The chancellor-elect will meet with members of the campus community and make brief remarks beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, in Rivers Street Cafe at the Central Dining Hall, according to ASU.

The seventh chancellor of Appalachian State University is slated to be announced this week, University of North Carolina and ASU leaders have indicated.
The UNC system Board of Governors will hold a special meeting at 10:30 a.m. this Wednesday, March 19, at the Spangler Center in Chapel Hill for the "election of a chancellor," a public notice indicated Monday.
ASU confirmed the announcement in a statement issued Tuesday.
Ken Peacock, ASU's leader for the past decade, announced last spring that he would be stepping down once a successor was selected.
The ASU Board of Trustees forwarded recommendations for two chancellor finalists to UNC system President Tom Ross early last month following a search and interviews conducted by a Chancellor Search Committee. The search committee formed in August and in January recommended three finalists, but one of the candidates accepted a position at another institution.
