United Way asks businesses for $100 donations
by Anna Oakes
Just in time for the holidays (and the year-end deadline for 2011 tax-deductible donations), High Country United Way asks area small businesses to join its "100 x 100" campaign.
The organization, which raises money for grant awards to other nonprofits and charities, hopes that 100 small businesses will each donate $100 toward its 2012-2013 fundraising campaign. Chaired by Appalachian State University football coach Jerry Moore and broadcasting and real estate veteran Tim Baxter, the campaign's goal is $575,000.
If you make your pledge of support by Dec. 31, your business will be included in High Country United Way's 100 x 100 celebration ads in Watauga Democrat and The Mountain Times.
Send donations along with your business name, contact person, phone number and email address to HCUW, P.O. Box 247, Boone, NC 28607. For more information, call (828) 265-2111 or visit http://www.highcountryunitedway.org.
