UPDATE: Man charged with child sexual exploitation
by Staff Reports
The State Bureau of Investigation contacted the Watauga County Sheriff's Office on Aug. 21 for assistance investigating allegations of possible possession of child pornography. The sheriff's office, a part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the SBI Computer Crime Unit looked into the allegations.
As a result, Jeffrey Scott Luttrell, 45, of 127 Bennett Way, Boone, was charged with four counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the sheriff's office.
Statute states that a person is guilty of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor if he possesses a visual representation of a minor engaging in sexual activity.
Arrest warrants claim Luttrell possessed four videos of girls between ages 5 and 10 engaging in sexual activity.
Luttrell was issued a $35,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 17.
