Two more accuse alleged back-rubber

by Staff Reports

Police arrested a Boone man Thursday after two more allegations that he entered unlocked apartments and attempted to give the female residents back rubs.

Julio Antonio Yanez, 29, was originally arrested July 22 after a woman reported that he had entered her Oak Street apartment July 16, refused at first to leave and tried to rub her back, according to police.

Police charged Yanez again after another woman living on West King Street reported that a similar act. That woman told police that Yanez stroked her arms and back after she declined his proposition for a back rub.

Two more women now have come forward with allegations that Yanez entered their unsecured apartments, got into their beds and attempted to give backrubs in April and June, according to police.

Yanez was charged with two counts of misdemeanor breaking and entering and two counts of misdemeanor assault on a female based on the new allegations, police said.

He was issued a $2,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 17.

Police reminded residents of the following safety tips:

-- Be aware of your surroundings. If you see something that looks suspicious, call the police. Officers do not mind coming and finding out that it's not suspicious.

-- When walking at night, carry a cell phone so that you can call if something happens.

-- Always try to walk with a friend when out after dark.

-- Always try to walk in well-lit areas and avoid secluded spots.

-- Always lock your doors.
