Two arrested on drug charges

The Watauga County Sheriff's Office arrested two people last week on methamphetamine and marijuana charges, Sheriff Len Hagaman announced Monday.

Narcotics detectives conducted a search June 18 at 755 Peoria Road in Sugar Grove as part of an investigation into the sale and distribution of methamphetamine, Hagaman said.

During the search, officers located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, five marijuana plants and a gun, the sheriff's office reported. One of the occupants of the home was a convicted felon, making it illegal for him to possess a gun.

James Arthur Moore, 33, of 755 Peoria Road, Sugar Grove, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a felon, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff's office. Moore was held at the Watauga Detention Center in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 29.

Mickey Denyse Tobiassen (Taylor), 34, of 755 Peoria Road, Sugar Grove, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff's office. She was held at the Watauga Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 29.
