Three charged in Walmart theft

Boone police have arrested three Wilkesboro residents suspected of stealing more than $1,500 in Walmart inventory.

The theft occurred around 1 p.m. September 13 when a man and woman stole two Hewlett Packard computers, a Keurig coffee maker, a microwave and other household items, according to police. The suspects loaded the merchandise into a blue, four-door sedan and left the area.

With the assistance of High Country Crimestoppers, police identified the suspects as Mickey Dwayne Williams, 30, and Elizabeth "Beth" Pearl Williams, 23, both of Wilkesboro, the police department announced Wednesday.

Further investigation also led to a third person suspected to be involved: 44-year-old Michael Edward Ayers of Wilkesboro, police said. Ayers was charged Oct. 17 with two counts of felony larceny from a merchant and one count of felony larceny, police said. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 28, 2014.

Mickey Williams was charged Nov. 2 with two counts of felony larceny from a merchant, one count of felony larceny and misdemeanor second-degree trespassing, according to police. He was issued a $5,500 secured bond and a Jan. 14, 2014 court date.

Police arrested their third suspect, Beth Williams, on Monday and charged her with two counts of felony larceny from a merchant and one count of felony larceny, police said. She was issued a $5,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 21, 2014.
