Thanksgiving community dinner at First Baptist Church
by Scott Nicholson
The Hunger & Health Coalition is hosting its annual
Community Thanksgiving Dinner Thursday.
All are invited to join in for the free food. The dinner will be held downstairs in the First Baptist Church on King Street in Boone, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"We'll have turkey and all the trimmings," said Compton Fortuna, coalition director. "Last year, we provided over 500 meals and we expect this year will be busy as well. It makes for a nice day and we're grateful to the community for providing it."
Food is being donated by Woodlands Barbecue and Pickin' Parlor and Makoto Seafood & Steakhouse of Japan. For those who want to eat in their home, requests can be made for a delivery.
To request a delivery, call the coalition at (828) 262-1628 by Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. and the meal will be delivered around lunch time Thursday.
