Teens charged with firearm theft

Just before 2:30 p.m. Friday, a Shadowline Drive business reported that a suspect entered the store, concealed a gun while the employees were distracted and left in a waiting vehicle, according to police.
Investigators identified the suspects from video surveillance at the store.
Wesley Alan Cox, 19, and Cameron Lloyd Cox, 17, were both charged with felonious larceny and larceny of a firearm, according to Boone police.
Wesley Cox was held at the Watauga Detention Center in lieu of a $15,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in March 26. Cameron Cox was held at the Ashe County Detention Facility in lieu of a $4,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
The gun has not been recovered. Investigators are asking anyone with information that might assist in locating the firearm to contact High Country Crimestoppers at (828) 268-6959. All information will be kept confidential, and tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
The Boone Police Department thanked the Watauga County Sheriff's Office, Ashe County Sheriff's Office and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation for their assistance.
